Deputy Earl R. Gardner 

A life long resident of Isle Of Wight County Deputy Gardner joined the United States Army in 1973.  After working with the Virginia Department of Corrections he joined the Isle of Wight County Sheriff's Office in 1977 and was assigned to the Uniformed Patrol Division.  During his tenure, Deputy Gardner become one of the first Dare Officers, School Resource Officers and K-9 Officers for the county. 

 In 2008 he retired after 31 years service and began working with a company in Iraq as an International Police Advisor training the Iraqi Police.  In 2010, Deputy Gardner returned to the Sheriff’s Office in a part time capacity and is currently assigned to the Court Services Division.
