Where is the Isle of Wight County Jail?

The Sheriff's office utilizes the Western Tidewater Regional Jail for securing and housing all prisoners. This physicality operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Western Tidewater Regional Jail is a secure facility located in the City of Suffolk that is responsible for providing care, custody and support to the prisoners for the County of Isle of Wight, City of Franklin, and City of Suffolk. The jail is located at 2402 Godwin Blvd, Suffolk, Virginia.

Where do I go to pay for a traffic ticket (a pre-payable offense)?

You can pre-pay a uniform traffic summons either in the General District Court Clerk’s Office located on the Courthouse Building’s first floor or you may pay online through their website. Click Here to go to the General District Court Website.

Can I drop charges that I secured on someone?

If you’re interested in dropping charges you can speak to the Commonwealth’s Attorney. The Sheriff’s Office cannot drop charges or remove anyone from a court case. Click Here for more information on the Commonwealth’s Attorney.  

Can I ride along with a Deputy during a shift?

The Sheriff's Office allows citizens to ride along with deputies and be an observer during a shift with a deputy assigned to uniform patrol. To participate in the ride along program you must complete a ride along application and submit the application in person to the Isle of Wight Sheriff’s office during normal business hours. Your application will be reviewed and once approved you will be contacted by a patrol sergeant to schedule your ride along. Click Here to download the ride along application.
